Anniversary

Don't ask me who I am
Face me and see the tears
Fallen in the corner of my eyes

Hello,

Thank you for joining us again on our anniversary. We’re continually amazed by the support we have received over the years.

A Summer’s End will always hold a special place in our hearts. It was a passion project that we released to the world without knowing the reception it would receive. We are grateful for everyone who has supported us over the years and has taken a chance on our game and story. A Summer’s End has brought us to meet and engage with so many wonderful people and for that, we are eternally thankful.

The past year has been a challenge due to personal circumstances affecting one of our team members. Although development was put on hold for some time, we’re doing our best despite these challenges. We have not reneged on our commitments to our next game project. It is something we are still very passionate and dedicated to.

A Summer’s End came to be in a vastly different political landscape. It’s not disingenuous for us to say we have been affected, and even discouraged, by the rhetoric espoused by mainstream outlets. As independent creators, we have the power to make stories that represent the marginalized and underrepresented. Yet when discussing sensitive issues, we understand the need to be cognizant in how we engage with these topics in a respectful and nuanced manner. In the Ocean I Learned to Float is definitively a more complex story with basis on actual events and real lived experiences. We were in a dilemma on how to present such a story and as a result the story has been re-written many times over the past 3 years. We were not confident in the beginning on how we could bring to the forefront topics such as gender-based violence. But in such times, these stories are all the more necessary and deserving of conversation and attention. We want to honour and give respect to the strength of those who inspired us and shared their stories with us which is why we have been in the drafting phase for much of development. Though as much as we want to continual revise the prototype and storyline for In the Ocean, we know that we have to bring these ideas into completion.

We’re glad to say we have finalized the story and game design concepts. We have also reached a place to say we are satisfied with the art direction and design prototype of our next game.

Michelle and Sam’s story seems like a dream to us now. But their emotions, their hopes in spite of uncertainty still ring true within our hearts.

We want to share also that we have opened accounts on Threads https://www.threads.net/@oracleandbone and BlueSky https://bsky.app/profile/oracleandbone.bsky.social @oracleandbone

We hope you continue to look forward to our next work!
