Winter Greetings

Hello everyone,

We hope everyone is having a good holiday season! We have several updates to share with you.

We at Oracle and Bone had an exciting past month. Charissa and Tida were in Taipei for Female Protagonists: International Women Game Makers Week as guest panelists and workshop facilitators. We appreciate Goethe-Institut Taipei for inviting us and organizing the event. Special thanks to Allison Yang, Theresa Hümmer, and Chester Chen for making the event possible. It was a lovely experience and we’re so glad to take part. We met such an amazing group of game designers, artists, and industry leaders. The dialogue we shared at our panels and meetings has been so inspiring. We definitely took to heart the conversations shared. Inclusivity and diversity is so important for the industry. We’re glad to learn about their experiences and we're encouraged knowing there are others like us creating games. Please take a look at their portfolios and support their projects as well.

Thank you to our fans and players for coming to our panels and workshop.  During the workshop we shared about our creative processes in storytelling as well as the visual elements necessary to illustrate a historical fiction game. It was a pleasure meeting all of you and speaking with you. We hope those who took part in the workshop enjoyed our activity and prizes! Your support and kind words you shared with us mean a lot.

Following our trip to Taipei, we made a stop in Hong Kong. As we mentioned in previous announcements, our next project will be a spiritual sequel set in Hong Kong in 1988. We visited Hong Kong earlier in the year, but we’re delighted to have the opportunity to visit again this winter. We spent time taking reference photos and this trip we brought a sound recorder to capture ambient sounds of the city. We’re steadily working on our next game, In the Ocean I Learned to Float. We want our next project to be an immersive experience showcasing the atmosphere of the city. The scale of the production is much larger in that the narrative will span several years in-game and it will explore the backgrounds and storylines of a diverse cast of characters. Gameplay will have interactive elements such as exploration and object interaction to gather clues regarding the central mystery. Some of you who attended our panels or workshops might have seen a preview of our next game’s cast of characters and art design. We’ll be introducing them over time. We hope you look forward to meeting them soon!

And last of all, we are so excited to announce the release of the Korean translation of A Summer’s End! Thank you Team K.E.D. for providing the translation and QA. The updated game is now live. Please download the update on Steam or itch.io to access the language option in the settings screen. To celebrate this update, we’ll be taking part in the upcoming Steam winter sale from December 21-January 4. We have plans of adding additional language translations. Please follow our socials and website for updates.

Happy holidays!

Sincerely,
Charissa & Tida
